You do it and the rest will follow
First of all I would like to thank you for your support by coming over and commenting on my blog. Though this site is pretty new, but it manage to generate quite a number of visitors. I’ve been making new friends even new business ventures during this short period. Though I’ve not been posting quiet often anymore, I do check the site and email everyday. In fact I still spare times for browsing through and commenting on other sites.
Though a fresh site it is, but the creator has been online for more than 15 years now. One thing I notice is that a trend which was done back then is still a trend today. I think probably it is because of the nature of human being. It’s not the technology or machine which runs this network but humans are. You and me.. we keep it alive, we shape it, we tune it, we make it happen.
What is the trend that I’m talking about? It’s nothing new but I’m not sure how many of you aware of it. It’s a human trend of “give & take”, “you do it and the rest will follow”. Both are more or less having a same meaning.
I noticed regardless of what you want to achieve online, either to increase visitors, increase subscribers or even make money online, you must start by doing it first. If you need others to come over, you have to go over first. You need others to subscribe to your post, you have to start subscribing others first. You want to make money on your site, you have to start helping others make theirs first.
The sooner you start the sooner you’ll see yours coming. But some of you might say..
Azlan, look there are other ways which are much easier and faster returns..
Well I couldn’t agree less.. I’ve done some of those myself.. but under laying all those comes trust and loyalty which you need to keep on building that make your success more meaningful.
Well.. OK I’ll start, it should not be any difficult right Azlan?
If you ask me so I would say yup not that difficult. But my advise is do it the smart way. At first I did it my own way but it’s never been better now after some try & error, some gurus advise and some luck at which it comes to this strategies. I’ll keep on polishing it for better performance but as for now here goes:
Increase your visitors
- You need to start visiting other sites which are not only having a similar content to what you’re offering on your site but to others that are not too. In fact visit the non related sites more often. Normally visitors which their sites are in line with yours are likely to visit you for the purpose of enriching their own content. They are unlikely to be loyal as much as the others. Why is loyalty so important? This is because it’ll brings you more comments, ideas and build a good relationship. Anyway business is about relationship. Strengthen it and your business will be stronger. Just think of this. Imagine if you’re making a boat and you have two friends which you have just known. One of them is also doing a similar thing as you’re for living. Which one do you think will be more approachable and receptive. I would feel that the person which is not doing the similar thing as you will be the one. As a human being we all like to hear new things, learn new ideas and know new people rather then listening to similar preaches by similar people everyday right.
- When you’re visiting other site make sure your presence is noticeable by the owner. No point being in a party without anyone knowing or noticing you. So how easy can it be with millions of crowds online? It’s not as hard as you might think. You just need to:
- leave a good impact-full comments on their post. Give your sincere and unique comments. Don’t just leave comments by saying simple words such as “Thanks for sharing”. Else you’ll be no different compare to other commenters and even worst you might probably be consider as a spammer too. Use a name which includes keyword that describes about your site. Example myself I use “Azlan Hussain (the online business boy)”. This will helps you gain a better search engine result.
- Visit sites which will stick your identity on their page once you land on it. What I mean is sites that are using social network group such as MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog. Once you register to it, your picture will be stuck on their widget whenever you come for a visit. Come over regularly even if only for a while, just to make sure you’re noticed. When registering yourself with this group use your domain name as your nick name. Example myself I use AzlanHussain.com for MyBlogLog and AzlanHussain for BlogCatalog. This is to ease others knowing your website whenever they put the mouse over your picture in the widget. Or else they will need to click through several pages before they could find your website.
- Treat a website as a house and not as a supermarket. When you treat a site as a supermarket you’re just another customer who comes and goes as you like. Find what you’re looking for and way you go. No turning back until you need more supplies. If that’s the case you’ll be just another customer to the eye of the shop owner too. They care less about you rather than your money. Don’t expect them to come over your house even for a drink. So treat a website as a stranger’s house, and you’re coming as a guest. Start building your relationship by introducing yourself to them. Just a short simple email praising their site and introducing yourself is more then enough to keep you in their list. Do this and the rest will smoothly runs by it self.

Make Money Online
There are lots of ways how you could apply the concept to make money online. Few of those are:
- If you decide to make money by selling ebook, then go and buy some PLR content, tools for building ebook or even join a paid newsgroup. Introduce your self to the seller that you bought the product from, soon after your purchase. Build your relationship from here onwards. Then once you have produce your ebook, start contacting them for favours in return of a fair cut from your sale. Trust me they’re most willing to help you promote your product to their list. This technique in fact has been used by lots of power online marketers in their earlier stage.
- If you want to make money from advertising on your site, you can start by browsing through ads that are advertise on sites which are similar to yours. Post a review of their product/services. Give them a good review (just in case if you’re wondering what to write.
) Then let them know about this review. After few weeks of posting, contact them again and offer them an ad space with a flexible rate. Even offer them free placement if they request, with a limited period of time but still at the prime ad space. By doing this you’re already one step in the advertising industry. Build few more relationship like this and you will start noticing others knocking on your door. - The one that I like the most is this one. I call it “I read, I comment, I reward”. This is a concept which will indirectly generates advertising dollars from Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ads. I do not mean by clicking your own PPC ads yea. That’s illegal. But it’s a technique of browsing content online. Normally when you find an interesting content from any site, the ad that appears in that particular content page also offers similar interesting content. Try to check what the ad has to offer. I was once in a similar situation when I was trying to look for a medical school for my brother. Finally I managed to find a suitable one from an ad link located on a medical blog that I visited. When ever you come across this situation make sure to let the site owner knows not only to thank them since your problem solved through their site, but at least to show that they deserve to be rewarded for the quality content that they have posted. Imagine how much better can that be in your relationship building. For me when I do so I will comment their post leaving an end note saying “Great content.. You deserve it” That has become some kind of my trademark already..
At this point you might be thinking that all this will take too much of your precious time to complete. But for a greater result I don’t think it’s wise for anyone to leave it untouched. In my case 38% of my overall traffics come from my loyal visitors and it’s still growing. You can check from your report for those traffic that does not comes from neither referral sites nor search engines. This are access which are mainly due to people coming in directly which means repeat visitors.
Before I end there’s one more thing that you should know. There are actually tools to simplified some of the tasks mentioned above. In fact I’m using a tool which I develop myself. I’ll cover this in my future post. For that I should suggest you to subscribe to my feed and get yourself updated with my latest post easily.
That’s all for now..
Cheers

Thank you for this post. It says what I have been teaching others in a very concise way. I will point to it often.
Statistics show that most visitors never leave a comment, so those that do are immediately way ahead of the majority.
But not just an ad for your site. Get involved with the discussion going on and it will draw people to you like a magic magnet
Excellent stuff. I will be passing this along to some of my clients. The idea of giving first is an old concept which we lose sight of so easily because we tend to be selfish. If only we could lay our own agendas aside long enough to see the value of helping others, then its amazing how quick that can pay off.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks for this post it’s very informative, but most interesting is your concept of ‘I read,I comment, I reward”. Somehow I think you believe in the law of attraction… I too like and believe in this concept. If you do it it will come back to you…
words of wisdom pay it forward
An excellent insights into the true picture of what we most bloggers tend to do…we follow the concepts of ‘give me more’ and ‘you take less’…we care less of others while wishing all good things for ourselves…inorder to reach success in any field one should have the idea of mutuality then only you’ll see that success coming your way…anyways Azlan congrats to u for this excellent and well thought-out post…keep it up…:-)

Hey Azlan, very nice information you got here, thanks for sharing!
Many online marketers fail to realize that you need to help them first to get what they want, then you shall receive! Many people try to sell instead of educate and this is not working too well.
Hi hussian i got this from your group discussion.like urs .good and congrats u to win on bloggerchoice awards
Azlan, Thanks for the good content! and I d agree on your points in this posts. Read a few articles about the same topics and they also said the same things.

Great post! I hope you find your way to my blog some time. I think you are a natural salesman on his way to greatness!
I’m not sure if there’s such thing as being in “ego” in blogosphere, that that person expects people to comment on his/her blog, without doing them in return.
Usually I try to comment on 7 other blogs daily (if I’m free of course).
Nice article, its inspirited me to dig an online business more.

Brilliant idea. I forget that we’re living in a real world. People tend to forget that this online is a virtual world and not to be mistaken with a fantasy world. Two different type of world. In which virtual world still need to be treated the same as real world.
Sorry if a bit confusing. Too tired already, commenting too much today.. lol
